Why does so much of our life revolve around food?

I was trying to decide what to have for dinner tonight and decided that I must not be that hungry because I could not think of what I wanted to eat.  I finally decided on leftover rotisserie chicken, but while I was munching I thought about my two weeks in the canyons of Gunnison, Colorado, while traveling in my motor home.  I had been in a big beautiful RV park for about a month where  I was a karaoke DJ, and where every Friday we made Hobo soup.  That's where everybody just brings whatever canned veggie they had and we dumped it all together and made soup.  Amazing, how everybody always had the right ingredients, tomatoes, corn etc.  The ladies in the park always added desserts and cornbread, crackers, or french bread, and dinner was served.  Then I would set up and we would sing Karaoke for a couple of hours, what a blast to see people who thought they could sing, hurt our ears so bad, and then to see the bashful ones who had to be talked into singing, come up on stage and blow our socks off.   OOPS!  that's not the story I wanted to tell you, oh well, there goes a bit more of that babbling.. LOL   While exploring one day, I stumbled onto this little RV park, that only had about 20 sites and each site backed up to a little stream that was full of trout!  I moved immediately from the big park and backed the motor home right up to that stream.  I would open my windows at night and listen to that stream, and let me tell you, there is no sweeter music to lull you to sleep.  Every day I caught one of those trout, cleaned it and cooked it, every way you can cook trout, always outside by that beautiful little stream!  I enjoyed every peaceful minute by that stream, and even though I have never been a person that could eat the same thing all of the time, I loved eating one of those trout everyday, maybe because  I caught it myself, maybe, because it was so peaceful there, maybe because anything you eat outside tastes better, who knows!
I remember when we were kids, our parents took us camping all of the time in the summer.  We had an Army tent and 9 Army cots and usually had whatever my Mom brought from home to eat.  I just remember it never mattered whether it was peanut butter and jelly or french fries on the Coleman stove or even potted meat sandwiches, everything tasted wonderful when we were outdoors.  No sodas, just koolaid or tea that Momma made, and we drank gallons of it.  How did we survive without bottled water and cokes and flavored coffees?  What a prissy little thing I have become, because I almost always have bottled water in my fridge, and some fabulous flavored coffee in the coffeemaker.
Oh WOW!  Now I'm really hungry!  Hey,  y'all excuse me while I go eat some more.  Hmmm, I'm thinking french fries and some koolaid...  I may even have to go get some potted meat and sit on the porch with my sandwich and pretend I'm at the lake with my family...Ahhhhhhh!!!
