Why we do the things we do?

So, I've been reading a book called, "Little Bee".  I chose the book because it made me think of my Daughter, who has the nickname Baby Bee, given to her by her pool team.  After finishing the book, (which did not make me think about my Daughter, because it was a very sad book, and she doesn't like sad books), I decided that I needed to re write the ending to make it happier.  Coming to this conclusion made me think about an old boyfriend, Fred.  Fred was my first Yankee boyfriend, and he was also my first Jewish boyfriend, both of which fascinated this little Southern girl from Bastrop, LA.  I learned everything I could about being Jewish, not because Fred was a devout Jew, but because I was curious.  I became quite the good little Jewish Christian, eating gelfelte fish, chopped liver, making seder dinners, attending High Holy Days,  lighting the menorrah, and celebrating Hannakuh, (wow, that's nice, 8 nights of presents).  What is funny about all of this, is that Fred didn't know as much about the Jewish traditions as I did, he always said I would make a better Jew than him.  I told him that might be true except that I already met Jesus, and have a personal relationship with him, and you just think He was a nice little Jewish boy.
Wow, did I get sidetracked!  I brought up Fred, because the first movie we watched together was "Up Close and Personal", with Robert Redford and Michelle Phiefer, and if you have seen that movie you know it has a really sad ending, when she sees his boots and realizes he has been killed.  Well, I was blubbering on the couch next to Fred and he said, " No need to cry Baby, those are not his boots, he moved to Montana and became the Horse Whisperer", which of course had me howling with laughter.  I was always willing to watch any movie with Fred, because he would always make up a happy ending for me.  Thus the reason for telling you about Fred, he is the reason I can read a book or watch a movie that has a sad ending, because he helped me see I can re write the ending any way I like, and that is exactly what I do, with books, movies and my life, I am forever changing!
I fell in love with reading as a little girl and lived vicariously through all of the characters in the books.  I loved when I was old enough to walk downtown to the library and some of my brothers always walked with me,so I got to check out lots of books. I would read them so fast that the librarian would let me check out as many as I could carry and thank God, I had lots of siblings to help.  Why did I bring this up, because I think this is why I have loved adventures and have been so fearless about having them, I wanted to do and see the things I had been reading about.  I remember there was a new girl in one of my elementary school classes, and as was usual protocol, she had to stand up and tell us about herself.  I don't remember her name, but I remember she had lived so many different places, I was in awe!  I remember thinking I am going to go lots of places someday, and by George, I have and will continue to go anywhere and everywhere.
Well, folks, I hope you haven't been too bored, I tried to warn you in the name of my blog, lots of babbling, but oh how I love life and I do so love to share it!
